Session
There
will be a pre-conference meeting again this year for all interested people, at 6
PM on June 15 at the Green Suites (see below) on Standards for Action Research
in Schools. Please use the
registration form to register your interest in attending this pre-session.
Invited Speaker: Dr. John Conyers.
Dr.
John Conyers is the former superintendent of Community Consolidated School
District 15 in Illinois. Dr.
Conyers was able to enter his school district into a partnership with IBM to use
technology to improve their achievement. Dr.
Conyers was Illinois superintendent of the year in 1999 and as a result of his
leadership the district was awarded the 2003 National Malcolm Baldrige Award for
Excellence. Dr. Conyers has been
recognized locally, regionally and nationally for his leadership role in public
education and has been the subject of a number of articles.
He has authored numerous articles and has co-authored a book titled
“Charting Your Course: Lessons
Learned During the Journey Toward Performance Excellence”.

The

first time, the MERA Summer Conference is being held at the Pohl Cat Lodge and
The Green Suites in Mt. Pleasant,
1900 Summerton Road, A block of rooms has been set aside for MERA attendees at
The Green Suites at special group rates of
$65+tax per room or $85+tax for room and suite.
Two bedroom suites are available at special rates also.
