There will be a pre-conference meeting again this year for all interested people, at 6 PM on June 15 at the Green Suites (see below) on Standards for Action Research in Schools.  Please use the registration form to register your interest in attending this pre-session. 

 

Invited Speaker: Dr. John Conyers.

Dr. John Conyers is the former superintendent of Community Consolidated School District 15 in Illinois.  Dr. Conyers was able to enter his school district into a partnership with IBM to use technology to improve their achievement.  Dr. Conyers was Illinois superintendent of the year in 1999 and as a result of his leadership the district was awarded the 2003 National Malcolm Baldrige Award for Excellence.  Dr. Conyers has been recognized locally, regionally and nationally for his leadership role in public education and has been the subject of a number of articles.  He has authored numerous articles and has co-authored a book titled “Charting Your Course:  Lessons Learned During the Journey Toward Performance Excellence”.

 

Pohl Cat Lodge – Mt. Pleasant (Site of Main Conference – located ½ mile behind the Holiday Inn)

 The Pohl Cat Lodge is located on the Chippewa River next to a PGA class golf course.  It is surrounded by nature bringing beautiful relaxing
 scenery and outdoors to conferences. 

The Green Suites – Mt. Pleasant (Site of Lodging, hospitality suite and Pre-Conference – next to the Holiday Inn)

 Each suite contains its own living room, dining area and kitchen.  As Guests of the Green Suites, you will also be entitled to full use of the
 Holiday Inn resort property as well.  This includes the indoor and outdoor pools, Inn Sports and our full service restaurant the Pickard St
 Grille and Boomers Lounge.

All rooms have 2 queen size beds and a full bath with a double walk in shower.

The Green Suites offer MERA participants special rates.  They are $65+tax per room or $85+tax for room and suite.  Two bedroom
suites are available at special rates also.  To receive this rate you must inform them that you attending the MERA meeting.
